Sore throat and achy joints? No health insurance.?!

Question: Sore throat and achy joints? No health insurance.?
I have a sore throat, my joints ache like its hurts to make a fist and I am only 22, I had a fever like a week ago but it went away. I just haven't been feeling good and I have been tired but I don't have health insurance and I cannot afford the doctor right now. Is it strep? Other possibilities? Is it a must that I go to the doctor?

You can easily check your minimal health care rates in internet, for example here - health-quotes.isgreat.org

Is it a must? No but I highly recommend it. Since you have no insurance and cannot afford a Dr. visit then look around there may be some free/low cost clinics in your area that work on a sliding scale for their fee. It goes by your income etc. You could have strep but the pain in your joints is another matter all together. I am not qualifies to even try to make a diagnosis based on what you say and neither will any Dr. worth his degree either without some testing I believe. There is one serious disease that is only a possibility but the disease is so serious that I suggest if you cannot find a clinic then see if you can work something out with your Dr. prescriptions on the other hand are something else entirely, maybe the Dr. has samples many do these days.

sounds like maybe the flu. after a week though you should be feeling better.

You can always ask a pharmacist, they would know common symptoms and suggest over the counter remedies.

You should enquire about any medical aid programs that you qualify for , like low income or student. There are some federal programs that support these. Just ask at your local clinics or hospital.
