Very bad electric shock when I was 7 years old?!

Question: Very bad electric shock when I was 7 years old?
When I was 7, I had a very bad electric shock from an multi-socket adapter which was broken but I didnt know. It burned both of my hands. But my left hand was burned pretty badly, to the point I cant bent my left thumb because i believe the joint is burned. My thumb ever since has never grown and looks like a 7 year olds thumb but I have small hands anyway so it doesnt stick out to much.

When I was getting the electric shock, I remember that I couldnt let go for a good 5 minutes. But the most suprising is that I didnt feel any pain! How come? I've always wondered

How comes I didnt feel any pain and how comes I couldnt let go? And why didnt my thumb continue to grow?

I remember the nurse saying that if it wasnt for the rubber slippers I was wearing at the time, it could have been so much worse!

Any explanations?

Answers:

You couldn't let go because the electricity overcame the electrical impulses in your nervous system to contract your muscles onto the adapter, same reason you couldn't feel it I guess. Don't know why your thumb hasn't grown. Would have been worse if you hadn't been wearing the slippers because there would have been a route to earth, so the electricity would have passed through your heart, rather than just around your hand. You'd have felt that!!
