How should I take care of my toe after toenail removal?!

Question: How should I take care of my toe after toenail removal?
I was just wondering if there's anything that I should know, other than to change the dressing daily. Also, how should I clean it? I'm kinda afraid to even take a shower right this moment.

Did your doctor that removed the nail tell you not to get it wet? I would probably wait a day or so. Keep the area clean and dry. Change the dressing everyday just like the doctor said. You may want to keep your foot propped up for a few days. Only wear open toed shoes until the area is healed. If you notice any redness or increase of pain in the area call your doctor. Be sure to keep your follow up appointment also.

You don't give any info on what hap'nd so this is just superficial. I am presuming you went to a doctor already? If not, GO ASAP! Keep it clean with peroxide daily and keep a good dressing on it so that if you bump it, you don't hurt it anymore. You can take a shower but try to keep it pretty dry afterwards. Make sure you go see your doctor if the skin starts smelling, or turns another color - red would probably mean infection and black means you're in trouble.

I just got mine removed yesterday! My instructions say to leave the bandage on the day of surgery. The day after, take a shower and let the bandage come off. Soak the foot in white vinegar and water and apply Neosporin afterward.

You should check with your doctor in case his/her instructions are different.
