Hi Brittany.

Have you had this SAME pain in the past? If not, I would not worry too much about it. If the pain is in the lower right quadrant and you also have a low-grade fever (99-101 deg. F.), see MD to rule out appendicitis. However it does not seem to me to be the problem.

There are also many "female-related" issues to be considered, but again, if this has not been a problem in the past I would not get over-concerned. Rather, pay attention to your body and if it becomes more of a frequent, or severe problem consider professional diagnosis..

If indeed you had a large bowel movement accompanied by copious gas, and the pain was suddenly relieved, my thinking is that you suffered from constipation and perhaps trapped gas. Trapped gas is very painful. The intestines do not feel pain. In fact, I could take your intestine out, cut it with a blade and you would not feel it. However, the intestines are very sensitive to pressure, and pressure will induce severe sensory pain. Thus, a bubble of trapped gas causing a pocket within the lumen will cause much distress. Now, if your pain is gone after expelling this gas I surmise the culprit responsible for your pain is none other than gas. Now it is gone, and so is the pain so you say.

I would hold off on the doctor. But if this battery of symptomatic signals returns then yes, it may be productive to seek medical intervention(s).

Hope you continue to feel improved.
