What household items can be used to disinfect a cut?!

Question:

What household items can be used to disinfect a cut?

Its late at night and I can feel a cut which I got yesterday is infected. I have squeezed out as much liquid as possible and reopened the cut on my finger and cleaned it out with soap and a nail brush. Is lemon juice or baking soda or some other common household item useful as a disinfectant?

Answers:

Plain soap and water is all that you need to clean your cut. You can use Peroxide to initially clean your wound but do not keep using is as it will start to remove the 'good bacteria'. (DO NOT USE BLEACH!! That will only burn your skin and add to the problem.) Once it is clean, you can use some antibiotic ointment, if you have it, and then cover with clean dressing. Redress daily or if it should get dirty. See your physician if you really think it is infected.....extremely red around wound, pus coming from wound, extreme pain and/or fever.
