Could these be calcium deposits?!

Question: Could these be calcium deposits?
I would like some more opinions on this :)

I have a teenager, and I have these bumps on my leg. They are soft to the touch, only slightly tender. they have appeared over the past three or four months, all in sucession. I showed them to my mom and she thinks they are just calcium deposits, but this doesn't sound right to me. Calcium deposits are most common in women above 35, the same age group that is most at risk for osteoporosis.

However, I realize that it is possible that these could just be calcium deposits. I want some more opinions on this, so what do you think?

Hi Fishbowl,

The calcium deposits your mom is talking about are not the same/have nothing to do with osteoporosis in women.

The kind she is talking about, men get too. In fact, I have one on my elbow, and a couple on each leg.

They are not harmful/dangerous, and can be removed, or sometimes go away on their own.

So, it does sound like once again....Mom is right!

However, if they do become larger/keep getting larger (They usually are small) or become sore without touching/bumping them, then you should see your Doctor. By the way, they will be sore if you accidentally bump one on something. Don't pick at them either! They will possibly go away, or stay. Like I said, they can be removed if you really wanted to.

Take care!
