I hurt my big toe on Thrusday Night?!
Question:
I hurt my big toe on Thrusday Night?
I dropped a porcalin vase on my big toe on Thrusday night and it still hurts I tried bandages and ice, but it's still very painful, my husband thinks that I might even lose my toe nail, I am wondering what else I can do it's hard to walk and it's hard to sleep at night due to the pain any ideas?
Thank you for your time
Answers:
Ice or cold pack for 20 minutes at a time, for 48 hours after an injury. Keep it elevated when you sit or lie down - that will help the swelling "drain" from the area. After 48 hours you can start to apply indirect heat for 20 minutes at a time.
Gravity plays a wicked role in foot injuries, because there is nowhere lower the fluid from the swelling can go.
Keeping the foot elevated is your best bet - not walking!!!!!!
As others have said, there isn't a lot a doctor can do for a broken toe. They can't cast it.
If you must walk, keep it to a minimum and if you have soft open toe slippers, wear them - and maybe use a thicker tube sock folded back on itself for padding.
My personal choice for pain killers?
Well, I don't usually drink, but I'd make an exception if the ibuprofin wears off before the next dose.
I feel your pain.... feelin' sorry for you!
