14 Year old with upper back pain?!

Question: 14 Year old with upper back pain?
Im 14, and have been having constant back pains. I am in band, so need really good posture. I always have good posture where ever I am, whether its at school, or at home. i really dontknow if this has to do with the pain, but im not sure. i also had broken my rib about 3-4 years back. nothing to bad, healed nicely. the pain is in my upper back most of the time. its towards the left and at the middle. No matter how i sit, my back usually hurts. any suggestions on why it hurts so much?

At 14? Wow. Back pain . . .

It could be that you are doing something awkward. Do you play some kind of instrument, like the Sousaphone, the tuba, or that saxaphone that is the size of a tree, that requires you to twist in strange ways? Is this a marching band?

Are you still growing?

How long has the pain been going on for?

You might be straining a muscle doing something that the human body isn't designed to do, like carrying a heavy drum around your waist, while marching several miles at a time, and growing.

I hope this helps.

If this doesn't sound like you, ask around and go to a doctor.

i have that problem sometimes too. pay special attention to the way you carry yourself throughout the day. good posture is one thing but sometimes especially if you're under stress you'll start looking a little ballerina-esque, with your shoulders pressed down and your muscles really tense. evaluate how you're sitting/standing throughout the day. if you're feeling pain don't hesitate to relax or stretch or breathe for a minute.

also, in all seriousness, do you have big boobs? because this is (unfortunately) typical for girls with large breasts.

Please see a doctor.

It could be anything.

But we can't diagnose you. We aren't trained to, we can't read your medical records, run tests, examine you....and you need a professional doctor to do that so you can be properly diagnosed and get treatment.
