Not derived of sleep, but still tired?!

Question:

Not derived of sleep, but still tired?

i didn't know a good way to put the question,
but ever since my summer break started i've been getting LOTS of sleep; about 9-11 hours or so. but when i wake up i'm still tired and have dark "circles" under my eyes. and when i mean tired, i mean really, really, where i can't open my eyes kind of tired.

unlike when it's a school night, i still get bags/dark "circles," but i'm not as tired when i wake up with only 7 hours of sleep.

i heard that if you over sleep or under sleep, you get the same kind of tiredness equally.

can someone explain?

Answers:

You may just be feeling grogginess, or it could be that you are just not used to getting so much sleep. I am 14, and when i started summer vacation a week ago i felt the same way, after getting 12+ hours of sleep. Now i am fine, but still sleeping that much (in the school year i get 3-4 hours of sleep). If the problem continues after about a month, you should go to a doctor to get it checked, preferably an endocrinologist, because it could be a thyroid problem.
