Answers:

Hydrocodone is a narcotic pain medication & is NOT to be taken by anyone for whom it is not prescribed for, as in, if your name isn't on the medication bottle; it is illegal for you to take it! As many folks have resorted to "sharing" their medications, or have even gone so far as to sell unneeded narcotic pain medications, many people are put in harm's way & face not only addiction, but death! If you take a medication, especially a narcotic, that is too strong for you, it is possible that you will die by way of slipping into a stupor & losing the ability to breathe. It's a sad situation when those who abuse these pain killers git sick or injured & when being treated or are being operated on, cannot get the proper relief from the drugs being used because they're bodies are used to taking higher doses, simply to get high, & it's a dangerous situation that is best avoided, but too many folks simply think "nothing bad will happen to me" & before they know it, they are in an ambulance, en route to the hospital, after being picked up off the road or gotten with the jaws of life out of a mangled vehicle! Because they have abused narcotic pain medications & do not admit to it, many people suffer from the pain of afflictions like this & it often starts with that same person "sampling" medications in their homes, i.e.: you're sister's hydrocodone! Please, if you you have pain that is bad enough to warrant your seeking relief with narcotics; go to a doctor & have your own prescription written for a new medicine. The life you will save is your own & if you know folks who take medications belonging to others, remind them that it can turn into a very ugly situation for them if, heaven forbid, they get into an accident or suffer from an internal sort of emergency (ruptured or infected appendix or gall bladder) where their taking a narcotic pain reliever may help them feel better & before they realize how bad it is, have now exposed their bodies to more harm by not getting help in time. Sorry to prattle on, but too many young folks underrate narcotic pain pills & often abuse them, not realizing that there may come a time where they can get into an emergency situation where having their pain minimized will be paramount to them recuperating, as untreated pain can cause high blood pressure & other physiological problems which can be a sort of roadblock to them getting well. Doctors will only use a certain amount of pain medication, even in emergencies, & if your body is already tolerant to high doses (esp. in those who use narcotic pain meds recreationally), they will NOT be able to help you. So please, put that bottle of hydrocodone back in the medicine cabinet & if you are in pain or feeling ill, call your doctor or 911!

Why do you need it?

Have you taken it before? I wouldn't touch it if I was you. However as a person who has endured stretches of chronic pain -- when you take it for the correct purpose depending on the pain level it may help. But that is between you & the dr. If you are lying in the ICU, and get out finally --I guarantee you it won't touch the pain. All depends on the situation. Start w/toradol (non-narcotic) or even tramadol which is rather useless if you have major pain.

Bottom line = you need to talk to YOUR dr or just get by w/over the counter.

No idea what k2 is and don't want to know.

Why would you take it to begin with?

I was prescribed hydrocodone for painful menstrual cramps. After taking one tablet, I was unable to stand and felt constant nausea for nearly 72 hours. I could not move from a lying down position because of the extreme nausea and vertigo that it brought on. I did not eat for several days because of the nausea and had to run to the bathroom to throw up whatever I did try to put in my mouth (even liquids).

This might have just been a bad reaction but I dont want you to face anything like that. It was pure heck and I was in another country so it was not very easy to see a doctor. I won't forget those few days! My cramps seemed like nothing after going through the side effects of hydrocodone.

If it's not prescribed for you don't take it. Hydrocodone is a prescription narcotic that is given for moderate to severe pain. Some people are allergic to hydrocodone. Never take any medicine that is not prescribed specifically for you.

I'm a nurse.

Doctors gave me hydrocodone when I got out the hospital for a collapsed lung. hydrocodone is bull crap, it doesn't do anything. It's like advil. Trust me not even worth it.
