chest pain from coughing?!

Question: Chest pain from coughing?
I recently had a severe cold that was causing me to cough excessively. The cold (and cough) lasted about a week and ended about 5-6 days ago. The powerful coughing caused inflammation in my ribs and back muscles, creating pain when lifting, coughing or breathing very deeply. After getting over the cold I performed some moderate physical activity (skateboarding...bad idea) and fell. The cough is now gone but some tenderness still exists near my ribs and back. My breathing is normal and unobstructed, and the pain has decreased considerably in the absence of the cough. How long will it take for these muscles to heal? Any advice?

You'll be back to normal in less than a week.
