Any idea what could cause this?!

Question: Any idea what could cause this?
I was playing the piano a little more often than normal recently, and the songs all had a lot of octaves, so I was stretching out my hands more than I usually do. A little while later, I noticed that my hand and down my arm was starting to hurt (i thought maybe I pulled something in my hand). Now, three days later, it is starting to swell and I even took Tylenol, which didn't help any.
I have been to the ER, but the doctors don't know what could have caused it. I don't really know if this is enough information to even make a guess at what could be causing it, but maybe someone else has had this happen to them? Thanks for reading! I appreciate any suggestions as to what has caused this. I will add extra details as needed.

Answers:

I'd say the muscles got stretched out more than usual and has started swelling. I would take Motrin (anti-inflammatory) and use cold compresses on it to help the swelling. You can alternate with heat for the pain. I would also use a muscle cream like Aspercream on it to reduce the inflammation. I do think it's nothing to worry about, just over extended the muscles in your arm and hand. Anti-inflammatories and alternating heat & cold should help. Over extension of muscles will not show on an X-ray. Try this for a few days.

I'm a firm believer in SECOND OPINIONS!
Go see your family doctor.
I am assuming the ER eliminated a stroke? And did x-rays?
Did you bump your hand against anything...at all? within the past week or so prior to this happening?
IF no xrays were done in the ER, then possiblity it could be a hairline crack in a bone and fluid is oozing out which would cause swelling. You need to follow up on this.
