Why does my chest hurt?!

Question:

Why does my chest hurt?

My chest has felt sore on the inside like the rib cage area it's not the muscles. It hurts when I move certain ways it also can hurt if I take a really big breath. It kinda feels like pressure on it. I didn't lift anything heavy and I don't smoke.
It felt this way about a week ago and I thought it was going away but now it feels like its back.

Answers:

Does it hurt in the front, back or side or the rib cage? If it is front or back, it could be a rib shoved out of place. Uncommon without trauma involved but does happen. The costochondrical (rib to sternum) or costoverterbral (rib to spine) joint pain usually hurt at the joint. Pain increased with deep breath, in or out or both. It can relocate with the right position, usually sitting very erect sticking your chest out, hold both arms overhead and take a deep beath. hold the breath. Take several deep breaths. each one should be less painful. Keep doing it until the pain goes away. Then, lower your arms keeping yu]our chest stuck out. Keep breathing deeply. Once the rib is back in, don't bend foward. Docs call this costochondritis and inject with novacaine. all they know to do is numb it. Physical Therapist, Chiropractors and Osteopathic Medicine Docs can get it back in place if it is a rib out of place.
A muscle pain will hurt when the muscle contracts or is stretched and is felt on the side of the chest. Around the trunk area, most of the muscles are for shoulder movement. If this doesn't help, best bet is see a PT or Chiro on Monday. This hurts and limits what your can do, but it wont kill you. It is called Mechanical pain. A body movement changes the pain. A really serious pain doesn't change with motion and gets worse with rest.
