My shoulder blade pops out when I extend my arm forward. How do I fix it?!

Question:

My shoulder blade pops out when I extend my arm forward. How do I fix it?

My shoulder blade started popping out after doing curls on a machine. I used the machine where I would sit, rest my elbows on the pads and do the curls. I think I may have over worked my right arm and now my shoulder blade pops out whenever I extend my arm forward, to the height of my chest. What should I do to put it back to normal? Rehab? Therapy? Massage? I hope I don't have to get surgury.

Answers:

same thing happened to my husband but his got so bad he had to have surgery. You will need to see an orthopedic doctor. They normally recommend physical therapy to begin with.
Go to a tractor & supply store and get the following material:
a ? shaped hook, a pulley and a nylon rope. put the hook at the top of a doorway make sure it is there tight, put the nylon rope thru the pulley then attach the pulley to the hook. You may want to get some metal handles & tie the nylon rope around it at the bottom. Use this twice daily, by pulling up & down on the rope. This should help with your shoulder, the therapy piece that the doctor will give you is some type of elastic material, it is cheap but the doctors visit is expensive. You can try what the doctor had my husband to do before going to the doctor.
The above information was given to my husband after he had the shoulder surgery. And it is not harmful.
