Who has ever gotten a bunch of blood under a fingernail, and it ended up falling off?
I was helpin my dad w/ some granite and got my finger smashed between a couple pieces, luckily, the nail seperated from my finger @ the tip, so the bad part is just growing off, and not falling off.

Growing up I was often doing carpentry or mechanic work with my dad. He always gave me the cheep nasty bent wore out undersized smooth headed hammer and I would always smash my index finger or thumb on my left hand launching me into a cussing fit that would make the devil blush. Dad would always grin at me and say what did you do, hit the wrong nail?
So to answer your question, Yes I have lost a few. Lost a toe-nail on my left foot once too but that was caused while dirt biking in southern Calif. I quit hitting the wrong nails when I got a 32 oz framing hammer with groved head, And thanks to dad, I have ben able to build or fix every thing I wanted.
