How to know if collarbone is broken (nondisplaced)?!

Question:

How to know if collarbone is broken (nondisplaced)?

IE: What are the possible symptoms of a broken/cracked collarbone (non Displaced). Reason in asking: I hurt my shoulder n elbow alittle n collarbone, from doing something stupid, I was on my 4's playing (with my dog) chasing my ball n in order not to slam my face into the wall, I had to stop myself some way, I did by having ALL my weight on my arms (most on left) and Unlocked my elbows REALLY fast, and let myself fall right there. It didn't hurt very much. The Main thing is I have Pain in the collarbone n some bruising (Close to the Chest bone, but the COLLARBONE ITSELF) The Midportion of the collarbone and close to where the shoulder IS fine. The Movement is never an issue when I break something. What could this be? Has anyone else break their collarbone and what were their symptoms? How did they break their collarbone? what did they do for it? I'd appreciate feedback!! Thank You!

Answers:

it doesn't sound like you broke it. collarbone fractures are very painful. there's swelling and bruising. the area is very sensitive to touch. the ones i've seen personally were either a sports injury where the player contacted another player or the ground at a high rate of speed directly on the shoulder, or someone that was struck in the collarbone with a blunt object (ie: pipe or bat). be mindful of it for a couple of days. if it stays really sore or swells considerably, go see a dr. other than that, i don't think you'll lose your arm this time.
