Itchy ears.?!

Itchy ears.?

The insides of my ears are ridiculously itchy. I use q-tips to itch them and it feels so good. Now, months and months later, the insides of my ears are still itchy. I have to ration out itching them with q-tips b/c it seems bad to do this everyday. Any ideas to what is causing the itchiness?

I had the same problem and ended up at a specialist. I would itch them with a Q-tip until they bled. At that point they were getting infected as the dry areas filled with bacteria. This happened constantly for years until I saw him. He diagnosed that I had stopped producing ear wax and this was the reason for the dryness. He prescribed a product that started with a "T" (it was many years ago) and was an ointment for burns. This worked great for years until I was able to stop using it. My ears now produce wax again, but in very small quantities and I no longer use the prescription. When they start to bother me, I can sometimes use hydrocortizone to get them to stop.
