Does anyone know how long prilosec otc is supposed to work?!

Question:

Does anyone know how long prilosec otc is supposed to work?

I just finished taking a 14 day course and now I'm wondering if it is supposed to last throughout the four months that you aren't supposed to take it again or if the heartburn will come back before I can take more according to the instructions.

Answers:

It will come back within a day or so. The drug company puts the disclaimer not to take more than 14 days (unless prescribed by a Doctor) to help protect themselves from lawsuits do to side effects.

I have taken ibuprofen for ten years even though it has the same type of disclaimer. You need to learn all side effects of the drug, monitor yourself carefully, stop taking it if serious side effects do occur and seek medical attention.

In my case, ibuprofen works in the liver, thus I have my blood work done every 6 months to insure my liver is not being damaged, I monitor stools for bleeding, etc.

If the drug works for you, I would continue to take it but educate yourself about the drugs side effects!

GOOD LUCK!
