Is this normal, does it happen to you, should I see a doctor?!?!? AND SO WHAT IF I SPELLED STUFF WRONG!!!!!!

Answers:

This is NOT TMJ--it's sleep paralysis.

What is happening is that you are waking up in the middle of REM sleep, in the middle of a dream. When we dream, our bodies go into a state of paralysis to keep us from physically acting out what we are dreaming.

There's nothing wrong with you except that you are waking up in the middle of your dreams. If your body didn't go into paralysis mode while dreaming, you would be sleepwalking and talking, which is a lot more of a concern.

Try getting more hours of sleep at a time. Then your body will be able to complete its cycles of sleep, and you will wake up at a more appropriate sleep stage. Good luck!
