How do you know if you have what it takes to be a doctor ?!

Question:

How do you know if you have what it takes to be a doctor ?

Answers:

Don't go into medicine if you just want a lot of money, because there are better paying professions with half the work involved. Emotionally anyway. Similarly, don't go into it just because you've got good grades and can't think of anything else to do. Also, beware of parents. You mustn't feel pressurised into doing anything, medicine in particular, because it's a very demanding course.

If you have what it takes, then you'll know about it. You want to help people, you have an unnatural interest in health documentaries and you're outraged when the NHS makes yet another blunder (if you're British).

I wouldn't say that squeamishness is a problem really. Everybody feels squeamish the first time they see surgery or even someone having a mole removed! When I was on work experience at my local hospital, I was the only one who didn't faint at some point, and that was only because I was already sitting down! My friend fainted, banged her head, got concussion and was sent to casualty!

You'll know if you have it in you, and if you are squeamish, you'll probably have the determination and motivation required to overcome it.
