Thank you for the confirmation. I had a reaction to the topical Lidocaine in my dentists office. He tried to pass it off as anxiety, but later I read about this reaction. I did notify the dentists office of all my medications. My chart indicates "Patient Alert". I am suppose to be given Carbbocaine only. This is the third time this has happened. The experiences were frightening. I am having panic attacks about returning for treatment. I am changing dentists and I am ready to sue!

Yes, it is a know drug interaction and you should have been counseled when you got the prescription about that and a whole list of drugs you should not take in conjunction with the Inderal. Part of the reason it is contraindicated with lidocaine is because it is a beta blocker, which affects not only the blood pressure but the heart rate and rhythm. Lidocaine is a cardiac drug used to correct rapid heart rhythms, such as ventricular tachycardia. The two would tend to argue with one another. Any time you have dental work, you should let the dentist know you are taking inderal beforehand. There are other things he can use for local anesthetic that will not interact. Something else common, you need to avoid is Motrin (ibuprofen), Naprosyn (naproxen sodium), and other non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs.
