Has anyone ever been injured and had withdrawal symptoms because they can't do s!

Question:

Has anyone ever been injured and had withdrawal symptoms because they can't do something?

I'm a bowler, and I bowled a LOT (every day, basically no matter what) up until I recently sprained my ankle. Ite was a pretty bad sprain, and I've been out of bowling for almost 3 weeks now, by far the longest time in the last few years. I feel like I'm having withdrawal symptoms. I don't want to do anything/go anywhere, I'm moody all the time, and I feel like I don't do anything but watch TV and surf the net all day.

Any advice? I just feel like I couldn't care less about anything, and I've had such an extreme love of the game for so long that I can't really picture myself doing anything else.

Doctor said I should be able to bowl by now, but I can't...what do you suggest to...

1. Speed the healing process
2. Occupy my time until I can return
3. Deal with/get out of this funk I'm in?

Answers are much appreciated.

Answers:

I've had many things like that since I haven't been able to figure skate for about the past two years because I had knee surgery which was suppose to help me skate better, and live a normal life, and my body ended up reacting badly to the surgery so I ended up with something called Complex Regional Pain Syndrome (I don't expect you to have any idea what this is), and well for the least to say I've had severe depression from not being able to skate and being in so much pain all of the time. I found that even just going and hanging out at the rink with some of my friends help get my spirits up even though I was in a lot of pain, and it took a lot of effort to go to the rink. I also have tried to help out at the rink (this was more my long term solution since it has been so long, hopefully you won't be in the same boat since you only have a sprain), and do as much as I could to keep my mind off of skating just because it's so hard on me because I spent 10+ hours on the ice per week and suddenly stopping was hard on me. I would suggest trying to see if you can wear a brace on your ankle and see if you can handle bowling with it. Good luck! Until you are able to start bowling again see if you can read a book, talk with friends, watch videos, etc.
