Why do i rub my instestines when i hurt my groin?!

Question:

Why do i rub my instestines when i hurt my groin?

seems to be instinct?

Answers:

Its a phenomonen known as referred pain. Its the same reason heart pain refers to the left arm and jaw or why gall bladder pain refers to the right shoulder. The nerves of these organs in question connect to the nerves for the skin that i have mentioned (heart nerves or Thoracic Splanchnic nerves connect to the nerves for the regions of the left arm, known as T1 to T4).

The testicles originally formed in the belly, specifically level L2. This means its nerves come from the Lesser Splanchnic Nerves, which also supplies the bit of the digestive system known as the midgut (starting at the duodenum and ending at 2/3rds of the tranverse large colon). This bit links to the skin overlying your belly button (T9-T10).

Therefore when you get hit in the groin it refers to the stomach. Since your brain can't specifically tell where the pain is coming from down the line of the nerves involved, it automatically assumes that it is coming from the nerves in the skin (although really its the testicles), and hence you feel pain where you do.

I know I might have put too much detail into the answer, but if you dont understand, dont hesisitate to contact me.
