Question:
After being shot by an arrow, why do they break half the arrow off while it's stuck in them??
I noticed it in Braveheart a couple times and other movies ...what was it supposed to relieve some tension off the wound or something?
Answers:
a hunting arrow was often barbed so it could not be pulled out without doing a lot more damage . It was either pushed through and then the arrow broken so the head could be removed, or broken off so the arrow shaft did not move and the head was then cut out .
