Can you go #2 after having an appendectomy (getting your appendix taken out)?
My boyfriend just had surgery to get his appendix taken out. The surgery was last night and he was released today around 5pm. He has yet to have a boul movement...he's wondering if this is normal and if not, what should he do?

If they had him on pain medication which I'm sure they did plus most likely gave him vicodin or percocet for pain at home...both which will cause constipation. It's common for a few days so I wouldn't be too concerned unless he is having pain because of it or it persists more than a couple of days. In that case he needs to call his doctor.
A good idea would be high fiber items as well as yogurt to help regulate the good bacteria in the digestive tract.
