How to treat epicondylities ?!

Question:

How to treat epicondylities ?

About 10 years ago i had surgery on my right wrist for the carpal tunnel syndrom. I got it, i supposed from over use of the computer. The surgery was succesful and the pain disappear.

Now for the last 2 months i started having elbow problems. I went to my doctor and i was diagnosed with epicondylities in both arms....

He gave me some pills (anti-inflamatory) but i get absolutly no improvement, instead i get all the secondary effects (diahrea mainly).

Now what should i do ? I need the computer for my work, so stopping it is not a solution. Right now the pain is not only in both my elbow but in my forearm also. Just squizing anything between my fingers and i get pain, lots of it.

The other days i helped a friend move, i was suprised that i was able to function almost normally, but at the end of the day, it was hell ! Just taking the milk out of the fridge my arm was hurting like hell.

So what would you recommend i do ?

Answers:

Well, you said your doctor gave you anti-inflammitories, and that is the easiest thing, also, rest and ice. Then you get into the more complicated stuff like shots, surgery, etc. Obviously the anti-inflamitories aren't working so you might want to look into cortisone shots to relieve pain. My aunt got these and she said they worked great for the first week or so. If it's really serious and the tendon is damaged, surgery is used to remove the damaged portion, leaving more room for the healthy part to grow and thrive. I hope that's not your case, because it seems very painful.

My friends have tennis elbow from throwing and tennis (who would have guessed!) and there might be a brace out there for you. But consult your doctor if the medication he's giving you isn't working.
