I have what they call a cleavage tear to the cartilage in the knee. what is the !

Question:

I have what they call a cleavage tear to the cartilage in the knee. what is the best way to treat this?

Answers:

There is a debate about it, and the review of outcomes are referenced below. Opinions differ, and it is natural to want to 'get this fixed' and over with... but waiting allows your body to do a pretty darn good job, and cutting leaves other problems for later, as well as creating expense. I have had a lot of major work on one knee, while patiently waiting for lesser injuries to the other to heal. I find nobody does work as good as God's. If you are really mangled, orthopedic surgury is a real wonder, preserving function and allowing near normal life after even horrendous injury... BUT If you can heal on your own, it is generally for the best.
