Dislocated shoulder?!

Question:

Dislocated shoulder?

I dislocated my shoulder around March playing rugby, and being quite honest I didn't participate in mid-week training sessions, but continued to play the games as the temptation was too much!
After a few weeks i felt it get better and by the end of the season it felt fine.
I then started doing weight training three times a week and another pain started to occur after about 5 weeks, that was quite deep in my shoulder (mainly started to hurt when doing bench press)
I know that the two are linked and just need to know whats wrong with it! And whethor its anything serious
I'm soon going to the doctors about it once again but just seeing if any of you guys would know whats up with it : )

Answers:

There are a few main joints associated with the shoulder, so you could be substituting for the previous injury during your weight training. I had something similar with the bench press and had to cut the weights WAY down and move to using dumbbell presses vs. the straight bench press with the bar. I would definately go see an orthopedic doctor and let them evaluate your shoulder. In the mean time, I would hold off on any activities that irritate your shoulder complex. Use ice packs if you do anything to make the shoulder angry in the meantime. "No pain, no gain," goes out the window here, man. You can still do more damage if you continue to press forward. Take a few weeks to have the shoulder calm down and get some medical attention. Here is a lot of information on shoulder injuries and possible surgical interventions....take this with a grain of salt because I have no idea how bad your injury is without an evaluation. http://wheelessonline.com/ortho/shoulder...
Good luck!
