The doctor gave me Diclofenac?!
Question: The doctor gave me Diclofenac?
Answers:
Heya
Diclofenac is a member of a class of drugs called non-steroidal anti infmammatories (NSAIDs) and the problem with NSAIDs is that they can cause problems with the the lining of the stomach and the rest of the digestive tract, leading to bleeding and potentially other problems such as ulceration, if taken in the long term.
Usually this isn't a problem but since you take omeprazole you probably are either at risk from stomach problems or already have them (like reflux or something?), in which case NSAIDs should definitely be avoided in the long term ...this is probably why your doc didn't want you to stay on it.
However if your foot pain is sufficiently bad there are other classes of painkillers available - but this will be up to the doctor's clinical and professional judgement

Yoda us quite correct as I take it for Arthritis and also get Omeprazole to help with any stomach upsets caused by the Diclofenic. I always make sure I take it with food and so far have never had any problems.
If my Arthritis is very bad I am allowed to take Co-Codamol along with the Diclofenic but that is on the doctors instructions not something you should do without checking with him/her.
It is a non-steroidal anti inflammatory. It can cause problems if you have a heart condition or can also cause gastric problems such as irritation to the stomach lining, leading to bleeding. That is why your doc said not to take it long term. Always take it after food.
