easy 10 points guys please look at this?!

Question: Easy 10 points guys please look at this?
are there more risks for getting an arthroscopy to treat a torn meniscus or more risks to just leave it? My doctor wants to do this surgery but my mom doesnt want to?

Answers:

your mom is wrong. i had it done. it was only temporary in my case; but did allow me to walk after physical therapy. i had to get a total knee replacement; and that was a great thing. i,m 64. you,re probably quite young. this is to your advantage. i was walking after arthroscopic surgery within three weeks. after a month of therapy, i started back to the gym. i was 62 at the time. there is nothing to fear. you have a better blood supply in your meniscal area than an older person has. and i doubt you have the arthritis that required me to get a total. get 'er done! enjoy life. do be sure to get physical therapy. it really helps.

Love 2 cheer, I am siding with your mother. The reason for this is that there is only one reason to have surgery on the knee. That is if the knee is locking. If the knee is not locking then you should not have the surgery. The reason for this is that the latest studies show that this surgery doesn't do any good in the long run. In fact having the surgery opens you up for more damage to the knee at an early age. What you need to do is strengthen both of your legs. The stronger the legs the better able they are to handle the stresses that you are going to do each day. The muscles are capable of handling this but not the joint. What you are going to have to stay away from whether you get the surgery or not is running and jumping activities. The reason for this is that it will continue to speed up the deterioration of the lining of the knee. So at this stage you need to work on strengthening the knee. See a physical therapist about this.

Well what do you mean by risks? If you don't fix it you are going to have problems you are going to have to fix it to play sports and by not fixing it your knee cap will be unstable causing it to sublux and causing more problems.

No there is not, doctors know how to be careful, and ive never heard of death from. Your mom will be fine. :)
