Cortisone Injection and pain afterwords?!

Question:

Cortisone Injection and pain afterwords?

I sparained my foot 13 weeks ago and am still in pain. I went to a podiatrist today around noon est. and he gave me a cortisone injection in my foot (wich hurt like @#$!) Now its 8:30 est. and my foot is swolen, the injection site is extreamly tender and I can't walk on it without servere pain. Is this normal, if not what is happening and how long am I gonna have to live with this pain. I have to be at work in the morning by 4 am est. and I will be on my feet for 10 hours. What should I do???

Answers:

Over the years I've had those shots several times.
the truth is that it will feel a LOT WORSE the 2nd and 3rd day. It is scary how much worse it gets following the shot. But then, after the initial couple of days, it will get so much BETTER that you won't be able to believe it. In my experience, a couple days of worse pain is sure worth it.
Put ice on it for the 1st 24 hours and then heat will really help.
I think you better call in at work. I don't think you'll be able to be on your feet 10 hours, and it's really not a good idea. Sorry.
Vote for me for best answer, I know what I'm talking about. take care!
