My throat hurts...not sure whats wrong. Help?!

It started 2 days ago, my throat hurts from my jaw to my collar bone. The pain is mostly at the top of my throat and swallowing isn't exactly painful but it isn't like normal. I've tried salt water and it really didn't make a difference. My head is feeling rather warm, but nothing really significant. I also read other questions similar to mine, but none of them really matched what I feel. I don't know if this matters but I haven't gotten my tonsils out. I also don't have a cold or sickness. I have considered it could be allergies, but I'm not sure. Any ideas/suggestions?
