Regimen for Shin splints?!

Question: Regimen for Shin splints?
I just joined my softball team at school and it is VERY intense. We run up and down the stairs eight flights etc. I didn't do much exercise before 2 weeks ago when I started. But my shin hurts like hell when I run, walk, and go up and down stairs. I bought a ace bandage thing to put on it during the day but that alone isn't working. Does anyone know what else I should do? I take advil everyday and it works but I don't want to get a stomach ulcer...

Answers:

Here is a very simple exercise program that will stop the problem. Assume a long sitting position and keep the knees straight. Have the muscles of the feet pull them back towards the shins. The only action that is taking place is at the ankles. You will know that it is working as there will be a pulling sensation in the calves. Hold that pull for 5 seconds and then rest for a few seconds. Repeat this until you have done 10. Do this right before you go to bed and right after awakening. Also do this before you start working out. The stronger this movement becomes the faster the healing will occur. This should completely stop the pain.
