Throat sensations.?!

Question:

Throat sensations.?

often, i feel like there's a lump in my throat and i can't swallow. sometimes, i feel like my tongue is swollen and i'm going to swallow it. it's even affected my speech in the past, but that doesn't happen often. this rarely happens at home, but happens more when i'm out and 99% of the time if i'm in assembly or class. ever since having a panic attack roughly a year ago in assembly (sweating, dizziness, feeling sick, twitching head, sensation of tongue slipping down back of throat, not being able to swallow) i've been suffering from this quite often and it's a big deal going into assembly now.
i'm fed up of feeling sick and having these throat sensations. how can i overcome this? i've been having councilling, but it's doing nothing.

Answers:

I have this too - it's called globus hypericus/globus syndrome, and is literally the feeling that there is a lump in your throat. It's usually tied in with stress - if you're getting it every time you do a certain activity (you mentioned assembly) you might find that you're automatically tensing and so it becomes a trigger. I know it's horrible, and really scary at times, mine comes at night and I really fear bedtimes when I get a run of it.

Unfortunately there's not a lot that can be done for it, but please persist with your Dr in case he can offer you anything that might help. Watch out for anti-depressants if they offer them, as they do have more side effects than the Dr will let on. I'm attuned to reiki, and find that when it gets really bad a dose of reiki into the throat can really help as it de-stresses me and relaxes all of the sore bits.

If you do find anything out - or if I can be of any more use (always happy to help if I can) - please let me know!
