I'm a cracking machine..Help!?!

Question: I'm a cracking machine..Help!?
Hi.
I mean, this is getting serious, and it's driving me crazy! My toes crack, my fingers crack, my back cracks, my left knee cracks, my ankles crack, and my neck cracks! I just can't stop it, I can't help it...What should I do?? I've been trying to forget doing it, but it doesn't work. Can it cause problems in my body if I continue??? I'm scared...Thanks.

Answers:

well first of all, joints produce that CRACK when bubbles burst in the fluid surrounding the joint.

Joints are the meeting points of two separate bones, held together and in place by connective tissues and ligaments. All of the joints in our bodies are surrounded by synovial fluid, a thick, clear liquid. When you stretch or bend your finger to pop the knuckle, you're causing the bones of the joint to pull apart. As they do, the connective tissue capsule that surrounds the joint is stretched. By stretching this capsule, you increase its volume. And as we know from chemistry class, with an increase in volume comes a decrease in pressure. So as the pressure of the synovial fluid drops, gases dissolved in the fluid become less soluble, forming bubbles through a process called cavitation. When the joint is stretched far enough, the pressure in the capsule drops so low that these bubbles burst, producing the pop that we associate with knuckle cracking.

There is not much of down side too doing this, all that can happen is minor tissue damage and minor loss of grip. The gain that your get from doing this is your joints feel loose, relaxed and you have increased mobility. Eating food that has fish oils in it can cause your body too create less of that gas in your joints, therefore your joints (knuckles, toes, neck etc.) will not crack.

My body is like this as well! It always has been, it's just noisy. I'll bend over and my knees will pop, I'll stick out my arm and my elbow will pop, I'll bend my toes and they will sometimes pop. It doesn't hurt and I haven't had any negative side effects or pains! Unless it hurts I wouldn't worry about it.
