Plantar Fasciitis- Can my GP help?!

Question: Plantar Fasciitis- Can my GP help?
I've had it for 10yrs off and on now. Past 2yrs fairly constant due to being a fatty. Is there any point in going to my GP? I know losing weight will help but embarrassingly I have no willpower. Is there anything else my GP can do? I play tennis 3 times a week and walk about 10hrs but am an absolute cripple after 30mins or so of sitting down.

Answers:

That pain is caused by tight tendons on the muscles and they have to be freed up to get rid of the pain. So far I haven't seen anyone in the medical world who knows how to free them up. You will need the assistance of one trained in them.

have done tendon work.

Your GP can recommend a specialist, who can show you exercises, give you injections in the affected area, and recommend custom orthotic shoes. A quick google search for "plantar fasciitis exercises" will show you some you can do at home that will help; it's best to do a lot of stretching before you even get out of bed and put any weight on the foot. Finally, acupuncture has great success rates in relieving pain associated with plantar fasciitis.

Eat five or six small meals or snacks a day instead of three large meals. A 1999 South African study found that when men ate parts of their morning meal at intervals over five hours, they consumed almost 30 percent fewer calories at lunch than when they ate a single breakfast. Other studies show that even if you eat the same number of calories distributed this way, your body releases less insulin, which keeps blood sugar steady and helps control hunger.

sorry to inform you, but you're WAY passed the chronic stage;; good luck getting any relief..@ this stage, you are better off with the BEST specialist you can find...10 yrs??? even off & on, that is WAY too long to let this go untreated...& btw, on the way during your treatment, it's a good idea to LISTEN & record...cuz evidently you're not sticking to the program...ya need to take this home & ya need to keep with the program...

There's quite a lot of info there which may help you to decide what you can do...best of luck
