How badly does getting the side of your lip pierced hurt?!

Question:

How badly does getting the side of your lip pierced hurt?

I will say I am a little nervous about getting my lip pierced. How does the pain relate to ear lobe piercing and the top of your ear piercing?

Answers:

I have snakebites and a monroe and I didn't even feel them. The piercing itself is over in 2 seconds. To me it didn't hurt at all my ears (lobe and cartilage) hurt more. I didn't even know my piercer had pierced it (snakebites and monroe) until she cleaned the up the dab of blood from around the jewelry. But just remember what may hurt one person may not another. It's really up to how much pain you can tolerate.

If you do get the piercing remember:
Do not touch the new piercing. Don't let anyone else touch the pierced area until it is healed. Make sure to not play with or chew on the piercing during the healing process doing so could lead to excess scar tissue formation.

Also make sure to keep the piercing very clean to prevent an infection.

To clean the piercing:
Wash your hands with soap before cleaning the piercing. Use anti-bacterial soap to clean the jewelry only in the shower, and rinse well. Do non-iodized sea salt soaks 2-3 times per day. The correct proportion is 1/4 teaspoon of sea salt to 8 ounces of warm water.

Don’t ever use hydrogen peroxide, alcohol swabs, or alcohol-based cleansers on the piercing. They are very harsh and dry out your skin prolonging the healing period. Choose an antibacterial mouthwash that does not contain alcohol and rinse your mouth after all meals and snacks. NEVER use an ointment like neosporin it keeps your piercing to moist, causing bacteria to spread. Neosporin prevents oxygen from reaching the wound. It is not designed for use on healing piercings.
