It is usually gas bubbles moving through your intestines. Yes, gas.
Sometimes your intestines will not allow something to pass through because they kink like a water hose being folded. When something reaches that point, it tries to force its way through (because the muscles pushing it aren't aware that there is a kink in the road ahead) so you get a sharp pain. This pain usually subsides in a few minutes. If you continue to have sharp pains like this, I would drink more water. This will help lubricate your plumbing.
However, that being said, if the sharp pain stays in one area of your body and doesn't go away, you may have something else going on - for which you should seek medical attention.
