They are both narcotics, but are synthesized from two enitrely different alkaloids of the same plant. They are not the same drug in any way, other than both being narcotics. Hydrocodone is much stronger. Dihydrocodeine is synthesized from codeine, Hydrocone is synthesized from Thebaine.
