My daughter has 2 white patch on her knee.?

her dr said its vitiligo what the biopsy report show negitive for vitiligo.has decrease melonocyte but has normal range.does any body know may be it is early stage of vitiligo or could biopsy report be wrong.her patch just like vitiligo as i reaserch a lot .i want to belive the biopsy report but on the other hand i donot want to ignore the fact eather .her grandfather has vitiligo.so please answer if some body has biopsyand proven wrong or has white patch turn to be vitiligo. thank you .i really need to know .please reply.

Answers:

It could just be because of the low level of melanin (from low number of melanocytes). This is not a problem. Melanin is what gives skin the darkness, such as from tanning. Melanin helps our skin to absorb light and turn it into Vitamin D, but a small area lacking it is not uncommon and shouldn't be a problem.

But I am basing all this on just what you put in your question. If there is pain, discomfort, swelling, etc, then you may have something else involved. In that case, I would recommend a 2nd opinion.
