Car accident, what to do? What to sue for?!

Question:

Car accident, what to do? What to sue for?

I am 17 years old, I live in Maryland and on May 04, 2007 I was in a car accident. I had several muscle strains in my neck, shoulders, and back as well as whiplash. I have been going to the chiropractor since june 04, 2007 and I have 2-3 more appts. to go. This doctor said that the muscles in my back should be soft and loose feeling, but they were tight and tender. Soon I will have my final evaluation with the chiropractor and he'll tell me if I have improved, and whether I should continue seeing him or do exercises for my back.
And I know I'm a minor and I can't decide how much, but I'm the one who is scared out of my mind to drive (but i have no choice), I'm the one who is in pain at work because my back hurts and it slows me down. I already filed PIP with my insurance company and it was his fault. The medical bills are covered as well as the time I missed from work and the damages for the car. Now, pain & suffering which i've explained this issues. How much could/should I sue for?

if you were me and it was my/ur fault the other person would get everything they could. so, what is one person sitting back and doing nothing about it going to change? nothing. and with my back still hurting.... almost 2 months later and i feel no improvement just a lil slower at work... not too slow to get fired, but it hurts to lift what i need too and i do it because if i dont who know's what could happen to me. so i MIGHT sue due to the fact that back hurts so bad it slows me down. forgive me for being in a car accident if everybody wants to be an @$$hole!

Answers:

Be so much more concerned about getting better and the insurance and all the rest will take care of itself. Don't become a victim. Get your health better.
If I was you I'd try acupuncture first though Chiropractors can be really good after the car accident but only a trial of visits are in order. This trial of visits is the same for any practioner imho.
With my patients I'd see them for a trial of visits of maybe 12 visits where you, the patient must have 75-100% recovery. 12 visits may not be necessary but it depends on the severity of your injuries. A few cases if very severe I could not help to full recovery.
Don't let anyone else tell you how you feel. You know how you feel and do not be afraid to go to another doctor if you are not getting fantastic results. When you plateau and you seem to stabalize but still have pain etc than that is the time to shift gears and find someone else.
