Sore threat and ear ache?

I made out with a girl a week a go and now have a sore throat and an ear ache, did i catch something from her? and how can i be sure its from her, cuz if it is from her im gonna regulate

was she sick when you made out with her?

if not then there is no way to tell 100% where you got it from. sounds like a common virus and you can catch those anywhere b/c they are passed through the air.

there is no cure for a virus. it takes 10-14 days for it to run its course. if it's a cold-you'll feel crappy for a week at least.

the earache could be an ear infection and you'll need antibiotics from a dr to treat it. make an appt to see your dr or the nearest urgent care to have that checked out if it doesn't go away in the next day or so.

sometimes with a cold-fluid gets trapped behind the eardrum and causes pain. try taking an over the counter nasal decongestant (like sudafed pe) to see if that stops the earache before going to the dr.

otherwise try these steps to make you feel better

-use a warm mist humidifier (if you have one) in your room at nite while you sleep. this will help keep your throat from drying out and becoming more irritated

-suck on hard candies or ice chips

-gargle warm salt water (2tsp of salt to 8oz water)

-take ibuprofen for pain (do NOT take with cold medicines-they already have tylenol in them). take 200-400mg every 6 hours as needed but no more than 1200mg in 24 hours.

-drink plenty of fluids to prevent dehydration

-rest as much as possible.

if you start to notice

-severe sore throat (hurts to breathe or swallow)
-white patches on back of throat
-high fever (101 or more)

get in to see your dr asap-these are signs of strep throat (highly contagious) and you'll need antibiotics quickly

getting sick from a girlfriend or person you are dating is common-it happens to me and my bf all the time. i just have enough respect for him that if i KNOW i'm sick-i avoid kissing him or coughing all over the place.
