Answers:

It sounds like you have a condition that is related to poor circulation. This particular problem is often experienced by people with diabetes and is called Diabetic Neuropathy. Poor circulation can be followed by numbness in the extremeties, allowing you to be cut, scraped and scratched - without feeling it; this opens you up to a number of infections and, quite possibly, amputation.
There is also the possibility that your pain is related to spinal degeneration, or irregularities, leading to the irritation of the nerves in the lower-back area. This condition is called Sciatica and afflicts thousands. The biggest concern with this is the potential for nerve damage. As you may know, nerves do not regenerate - once they're gone...they're gone. In some cases, existing nerves will grow 'into' the area to replace the lost ones - but don't count on it. Nerve damage can also cause numbness and, because these are nerves in the spinal region, can result in partial paralysis.
It is time to see a doctor. With early medical intervention you can halt, and even reverse, the damage that is being done to your body. The solution may be as simple as diet and exercise, or as involved as longe-term medicinal therapies. The longer you let it go, the longer it will take to repair the damage.
