How to help heal shin splints and other ankle/shin injuries?!

Question:

How to help heal shin splints and other ankle/shin injuries?

I skate (board) every day and for the past few months now, the pain won't go away. From my knees down hurts like hell. Even if I take a few weeks off, the pain doesn't really go away, and even if it does, it comes right back once I start skating again. My real question is, is there a way to help this heal faster? Maybe some daily stretches or workouts that will help? Thanks a lot.

Answers:

Is the pain in one specific spot or throughout the whole lower leg area?
If you can pinpoint the location, it could be a stress fracture and could take a month or two to heal.
Otherwise, its probably shin splints...
to try to help fix them:
-ICE
-time off
-exercises: try walking on your heels, walking on your toes. also, stand on a curb and go up to tiptoes & repeat.
put weights of some sort on your feet, sit on a bed with your feet off the edge, raise your toes up towards you.
exercises should strengthen your shin/calf muscles and can help reduce injury but only if you get on a schedule and do them consistently.
