I picked a scab on a cut and saw that a lump of skin was pokin thru the cut. what is it and how can i lose it?

i got cut when i fell. it was bothering me because it made a small lump with a scab ontop. i picked the scab so i could check it out and it's just raw skin underneath poking through the cut. what is happening and how do i cure/fix it?

well, if your cut was deep and well, pretty much fresh, your skin is granulating. meaning that the new tissue below your scab is multiplying to fill in back the gash you made, then your sking will grow back. by pealing your scab so fast, you just pulled out all the granulating tissue. thus exposing the wound and pulling out all the good flesh. better not pick on it. higher chances of scaring. just let it dry and let it fall off on it's own. always use antiseptic cream and if you have any funny foul smelling green stuff coming out, it's an infection. yup yup.
if it's an old wound than i guess it may be kelloids.
