Why is obesity increasing in Australia and other developed countries?!

Question:

Why is obesity increasing in Australia and other developed countries?

Answers:

Here are my Ideas.

Since the fifties Food Portion sizes have about doubled.

We are nearly inactive due to TV and computers.

Food is used as a reward instead of a three times a day necessity.

The food of the fifties was probably just as fat or maybe more so, but we just ate less of it.

Our family sat down to a family style table. Six people, one bowl of Potatoes, another vegetable, one piece of meat each,
and I do not recall if we had bread with a meal, maybe sometimes. Snacks were unheard of. We would have an uniced cake on Sundays.

Plus the family had a business, so we all worked at home. So no one had any extra weight what so ever.

I do believe the additives that are pumped into our meats contribute to a lot of our weight problems. If you inject growth hormones into a cow and we eat the meat, won't it logically effect us? They are also injected with antibiotics to keep them healthy, I am sure in someway that effects us also. The same goes for chickens and pigs.

Studies need to be done on the pros and cons of all of the chemical additives to our foods.
