Knee Pain Help??!

Question:

Knee Pain Help??

Ive been having knee problems for awhile and no one seems to be able to figure out whats wrong. My left knee is constantly aching and hurting, and at times is somewhat swollen but not terribly swollen. When i stand, kneel or squat for too long, my knee starts to hurt and it gets hard to bend. Stading up from squatting and kneeling, my left knee is slower to straighten out than my right knee. It also feels as if the tendons or ligaments on the outer side of my left knee are very tight or something. They seem to not let me knee fully extend from a sqatting/kneeling position. I also cannot use my left knee to push off of whenI stand up. I can only use my right leg. My left knee feels as if it will give out or collapse. Does anyone have any suggestions on what could be going on? I am not overweight, and I'm a very active teen. I've gotten Xrays before but never MRI or anything else. Also, physical therapy did not help. Thanks for your advice.

Answers:

It sounds to me like you have tendinitis. I take it you've seen a orthopedic surgeon because you were prescribed physical therapy. I would get a second opinion from a top OS in your area. I had a similar issue last year. I had shattered by left leg, and since I couldn't bear any weight on that leg, I was using my other leg to get up from my wheel chair and and crutches to get to the bathroom. Over time I developed tendonitis and while physical therapy worked for me, surgery was also on the table as a last resort.

I am attaching the doctor finder from the american medical association. Again, I would find a Orthopedic surgeon and get a second opininion.

Good luck to you and feel better!
