Muscle pains?!

Question:

Muscle pains?

Im starting to jog three times a week to train for track for school next year. Every time Im done, my legs feel very week and stiff, and I was wondering if that will ever go away or my body will get used to it. Im in excellent shape for a 14 year old and I do aerobics everyday. Some advice pleaseeee!!

Answers:

When you first start out, you will have leg pain. It means you are pushing yourself too hard too fast. Always do stretching exercises before and after a run. Warm ups and cool downs. How long and how far do you jog/run? If it's five miles right off the top, you are going at it too hard. Try running/jogging on grass or dirt first, not concrete sidewalks. Go up and down steps, a lot. You may get shaky legs, but stop if there is pain. Jogging, are you a toe tripper or a heel striker? If you hit the ground running on your heels too hard you can hurt your feet. Try running with a forward rolling motion of the foot. It's hard to explain, but it helps prevent food and ankle damage. You have to build up your stamina and strength when running. If you know a coach ask about the leg pain. They usually have great tips.

Good luck and fly like the wind, hun.
