Question:
I think my dad has a spider bite. Do you know what kind it is, dangerous?
There is a bite on my dad's back. It may be a spider bite, were unsure. It is swollen up like a volcano and has a pit in the center where is indents a bit. Inside the pit it is almost black like a scab almost. It is painful and doesn't puss. My mom squeezed it, no ooze, just pain. Any insite guys? Any website with info? Anything will help.
Thanks
Answers:
It certainly sounds like a spider bite. Spider venom causes tissue death, or "necrosis." Spider bites like this aren't fatal, but the necrosis can spread with the more venomous varieties. I would strongly suggest that he get the leg seen by a doctor as soon as possible; even a bite with weak venom can cause scarring, and strong venom can require surgery to removed the dead tissue.
