Having tarsal tunnel surgery, any experiences with it?!

Question:

Having tarsal tunnel surgery, any experiences with it?

I have had many surgeries, but have heard tarsal tunnel is very painfull post op and you are darn near helpless for about a week. Also heard the recovery period is very long. I have never babied myself after any surgery, but have been told with TT you have to go very slow. Any experiences with this surgery and any post op pointers?

Answers:

The big thing is to keep it easy for the first week or so. If you're too active in the beginning then it's gonna make for a long recovery. Tarsal tunnel surgery is basically a surgery to relieve the pressure on the big nerve that runs in the inside of the foot/ankle. Be sure to follow your surgeon's directions to the T and you'll have less post-op disability. Any surgery carries some pain, but as long as you listen to your surgeon, you should have a good outcome. Hope this helps!
